the Land of the Dead

The Land of The Dead

The land of the Dead is a long form project that continues my exploration of death and grief and its many dimensions. In this project I journey to the other place in search of my long-lost brother. Many have quested before me and many have failed. These images position the viewer looking out to sea standing on the edge of the shore, but the ferryman will only travel in one direction with his cargo. The images are a reimaging of the view from the Land of the Dead towards the land of the living. A place where through my photographic practice I can create a personal world in which my sibling continues to exist, and I can shape new narratives around his absence.

This project is very much in its early stages and you can follow along on my substack as it develops, as a direct result of my time on the East Meets West Master class programme.
